WHOA! What a ride...

While the first Vermont Rally™ in 2008 was largely hailed as a community success, it represented a huge drain on investors and organizers. In meetings at the end of the summer and early fall of 2008, it started becoming apparent that neither the financial or intellectual investment that was available for the initial event would be available for a 2009 event.

Then came the economic downturn which pretty much put a nail in any hopes to produce a similar event in 2009.

So.... there will be no Vermont Rally™ in 2009. If you have an interest in seeing the event happen in 2010, and can bring either a financial or intellectual investment to the table, please contact us! Whether you can bring seed money to begin the planning of a 2010 event, or your organizational/sales skills, we would love to be able to produce the event again, and these are the types of assets needed.

Thanks to everyone for the huge effort expended on the 2008 event, and we hope to see you all again in 2010. In the meantime, your continued support of this benefit ride that first launched from last years' event would be greatly appreciated!

Gayle Sheldon Memorial Ride for Brain Cancer Awareness

Gayle A. Sheldon Memorial Ride To Benefit The Community Cancer Center

On Saturday June 6th, 2009; enjoy the beauty of Vermont from your motorcycle or vehicle while supporting the Community Cancer Center of the Rutland Regional Medical Center. Join us for the Second Annual Gayle A. Sheldon Memorial Ride to raise awareness and funds needed to improve the quality of life for patients and their family’s struggling with brain and other types of cancers.

This memorial ride will depart from The Rutland Regional Medical Center on Allen Street in Rutland, Vermont, Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. We will complete an 80 mile ride round trip that will end at Dan Turco and Sons in North Clarendon, Vermont. Certified Road guards for the event will be provided by the Independent Ryder’s, Inc. of Vermont.

To participate, riders must register at Rutland Regional Medical Center from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 am, or pre-register online at our web site www.gaylesheldongbm.com. Participation in the ride is $15 per person, and includes the Pig Roast. For those who do not wish to participate in the ride can still attend the Pig Roast at Dan Turco and Sons for $15. Children 12 and under can participate at no cost. Other activities include, live music, 50/50 raffle, prize raffle, and guest speakers (Tina Jackson plus more). T-shirts and water bottles will also be available for sale.

This event is organized by Gayle Sheldon’s family along with Bruce Turco and Jim and Nickie Brenton. Gayle battled with the devastating Glioblastoma Multiform IV form of brain cancer for 4 months until she lost the battle with cancer in 2007. Many other people are suffering with cancer and the Rutland Regional Cancer Center can only help more with the additional funds we are raising.

With your participation, many people will benefit. All proceeds after expense’s will be used to help Cancer patients and there families in Rutland County. It will also be used to provide new tools to inform people of the under publicized but very deadly Glioblastoma Brain cancer in its many forms.
